The David’s House Workshop will be held directly after the March Meeting.

We will be making a SCRAPPY SPINNER QUILT.
For those new to us, or who have not participated before here are a few details: The guild supplies the fabrics, batting, and pattern for the workshop. The last few years folks have found it easier if we provide “kits”, enough of the fabrics required to make a quilt top. There is roughly enough fabric to make a small quilt top, sometimes we have enough of a particular fabric to include it for binding.
Some packets have more fabric than others. Make as many squares as you can or want to make. Some packets make one small quilt, some a larger one or two small ones. Just cut what you have into 2 ½” strips and make as many of the blocks as you can. A few kits may have enough fabric to use for binding.
If you chose to use your own fabrics, or would like to make a second (or third 😊) quilt, you will need: 18” of four different prints or blenders, 30” of a coordinating fabric, usually white or off white).
As always, please reach out via email for batting or other supply requests.
The pattern and kits will be available the day of the workshop. Those who cannot participate on the day can get a kit and pattern at the April meeting. We want to be sure to have enough that day for the folks who are going to participate. Click here for the pattern.
Everyone participating needs to bring their own machine and tools they want to use. We will have a few ironing and cutting stations, but feel free to bring your own.
Lunch is NOT provided. Please bring your own. We will have bottled water and paper products.
Suggested things to bring:
Power strip, machine, extra lighting (Ott light or similar), rotary cutters and rulers, cutting mats, etc. The fabric all comes folded in ziplock bags. It will need to be ironed before cutting. Barbara and I will bring our big boards and irons, but we need more surfaces and irons so folks don’t spend half of their time waiting to iron their pieces.
All the fabric used in this pattern needs to be 2 ½ inches wide. Barbara and I will be bringing our Accuquilt cutters with us. If anyone else has one, that would be terrific! The 2 ½” strip die and mat are all we need for this besides the cutter itself. You could also choose to cut the strips the old fashioned way.
